Kubernetes Practice

Build practical Kubernetes skills by running workloads, managing pods, inspecting cluster state, debugging with kubectl, and working with deployments and services.

Module 1

Pods & Containers

Learn to define and run Kubernetes Pods with manifests, labels, ports, commands, arguments, environment variables, and restart policies.

4
About this challenge

Declare a pod with labels and a container port, apply it, and read what the cluster decided - phase, readiness, node and IP.

About this challenge

Override a container's command and arguments and inject literal plus downward-API environment variables, proven from inside the container.

About this challenge

Give a completing task and a crashing server the restart policies their lifecycles need, and read phases, restart counts and exit reasons from status.

About this challenge

Bring up a server, a configured variant and a one-shot task from bare manifests, and report every workload's identity and outcome from live status.

Module 2

kubectl Inspection & Debugging

Learn to understand what a Kubernetes cluster is doing by inspecting state, logs, containers, and events with kubectl.

4
About this challenge

Answer real questions about a running namespace with get and describe - wide placement, exact field extraction, sorted listings and the events section.

About this challenge

Read what containers actually said - current and previous instances, tail limits, the right container - and check in-container truth with exec.

About this challenge

Diagnose stuck workloads from the cluster's own record - events filtered by object, reason and type, each failure named by its cause.

About this challenge

One read-only sweep over a namespace: placement and state, log and in-container evidence, and an event-rooted diagnosis for every broken workload.

About this path

This path starts with running and inspecting workloads: pods and containers, then inspecting and debugging a cluster with kubectl. You work in a Linux terminal, so you should be comfortable running basic commands there, and knowing what a container is helps. No earlier Kubernetes experience is needed. The debugging module ends with a cluster triage kit built from logs, events and cluster state.

Frequently asked questions

What will I practice in this path?

2 modules: Pods & Containers and kubectl Inspection & Debugging.

How many challenges are there, and how hard are they?

8 challenges, all easy.

What does this path run on?

Challenges run on Linux CLI.

Do I need to install anything?

No. Every challenge runs in a browser-based IDE with everything already set up, and your code is graded automatically against a test suite.
